About the Children's Festival Bethlehem
In 2012, a festival will be held to bring joy and hope to the children and families of Bethlehem. It will provide an opportunity for Palestinian and Austrian children to meet and foster intercultural collaboration and actively promote peace in the region.
The Children’s Festival in Bethlehem will be modeled on the NÖ Children's Summer Games at the Herzogenburg Priory. We want to share the joy and enthusiasm that the children show every year in Herzogenburg with the children in Bethlehem.
The festival is intended for all families living in and around Bethlehem, irrespective of their religion or ethnic origin. Initially, we will use our existing contacts to Christian parishes and social institutions in Bethlehem. We are also inviting all of the schools in Bethlehem to actively participate.
We intend for various children's groups to contact each other directly before the actual festival (e.g. primary school classes from Talitha Kumi and VS-Herzogenburg).
After the festival in 2012, we also plan to encourage other EU states to continue this festival for the children of Bethlehem in the years to come.
